Designer’s Notes
Although its name may suggest otherwise, this Fox & Chave silk tie has no connection to snakes. The pattern is inspired by “Snakeshead”, a celebrated design from the legacy of William Morris, and one of his personal favourites.
The name actually refers to the flowering plant Fritillaria meleagris, often known as the snake’s head fritillary or chequered daffodil. This distinctive perennial is common throughout the United Kingdom. Its slender, grey-green leaves resemble a snake’s head in shape, and each stem carries one or two delicate, nodding blooms. The petals display a soft pink, checkerboard-like pattern that gives the plant its characteristic beauty.
Styling
A Fox & Chave silk tie pairs beautifully with a classic Windsor or half-Windsor knot, and complements a wide range of collar styles. For the best visual impact, opt for a cutaway or spread collar to showcase the full detail of this unique silk design.
